South Flint Tabernacle was initially founded by Rev. John McLaughlin in the spring of 1931. They started holding worship services in the old Lincoln School building on South Saginaw street in Flint, Michigan. Within a few months, Rev. McLaughlin turned the church over to to Rev. Albert A. Abbey, who then became the pastor.

A couple of years later, the church bought property at G-3450 South Saginaw street in an unincorporated area known as South Flint. Some time later the first building was erected at that location. Rev. Abbey continued to serve and lead the congregation for the next 35 years.

The church has had several major building and remodeling projects. The church sanctuary and offices remain at this location in what is now called Burton, Michigan. Over the years, the congregation has grown considerably. Today the congregation is as vibrant as ever and South Flint Tabernacle continues to be a stable, yet also very progressive church.

The current Pastor of South Flint Tabernacle is the Reverend Robert E. Henson. He and his wife have served the congregation since 1979.

The Bible is the inspired Word of God.
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction and righteousness." II Timothy 3:16

There is only one God.
"Thus saith the Lord the King… I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God." Isaiah 44:6

Jesus Christ is God manifested or revealed in the flesh.
"And without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." I Timothy 3:16

The plan of salvation is clearly stated in the Holy Bible.
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:38

The believer should live his or her life consecrated to the Lord Jesus Christ.
"See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise," Ephesians 5:15

Jesus Christ is coming again.
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord." I Thessalonians 4:16,17

There will be a final judgement.
"And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be." Revelation 22:12

As a dynamic, Spirit filled church, under girded by prayer and proclaiming the Word of God, we purpose to win and mature disciples of Jesus Christ by:

• Exalting Jesus Christ
• Encouraging People
• Equipping Christians
• Evangelizing the World

• To exhalt Jesus Christ as Lord in lifestyle, worship, and ministry.
• To minister to, and serve, people; not just operate programs.
• To fostor church health and see our influence for Jesus Christ expand as a direct result.
• To reach the unsaved with the Gospel of Jesus Christ
• To effectively disciple all believers
• To mentor and train people and enable them to become involved in meaningful ministry.

Home Friendship Groups are small groups of people who are at various growth levels in their Christianity. These groups meet weekly in your neighborhood to enable people to develop more meaningful and personal relationships with God and other people.

A Home Friendship Group is a secure place where you can be free to express your feelings, regardless of your background or circumstances and where real life issues are discussed from a Biblical perspective.

Home Friendship Groups:

• Meet weekly in the homes of group members during a variety of convenient times
  
• Offer Adult and Teen groups
  
• Welcome small children
• Are facilitated by Certified Home Friendship Group Leaders
• Are conducted in an orderly, organized fashion with a different issue being addressed each week
• Are open to all people - church attendance is not required
• Are free of charge - you will never be asked for a monetary fee or donation

If you have ever wanted to learn more about the Bible, now is the perfect time. South Flint Tabernacle offers a free, twelve week Bible study entitled Search for Truth 2.

Home Bible Study Classes are:

• Taught for just one hour each week over a twelve week period
  
• Taught by a Certified Home Bible Study instructor
  
• Through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation
  
• There is nothing to buy and all materials are provided for you
  
• Convenient - you pick the time and the location
  
• Given on an individual basis or in a small group setting
